An unnamed Maryland woman was killed after being run over by a stolen forklift. Reports say a manhunt is ongoing for the suspect who fled the crime scene in the victim’s car.

On July 2, at around 12:40 a.m., deputies of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home improvement store in the 2500 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf, Maryland. However, by the time the deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect had already fled.

According to Betz, bystanders stated that the suspect broke into the store, stole a forklift, and fled the scene by crashing into the gates. Upon searching the area, the forklift was eventually located, but with a deceased woman underneath.

Maryland Woman Killed

According to Chasan, the Maryland woman found dead underneath the stolen forklift was believed to be run over by the suspect. Investigators later determined that the Maryland woman encountered the suspect in the parking lot of a store before she was run over to her death.

Thereafter, the investigators believe that the suspect fled the crime scene with the Maryland woman’s vehicle which was a dark-colored, 2019 Ford Fusion with a missing side mirror and damage to the passenger side.

To date, a manhunt for the suspect is ongoing and the Maryland woman’s identity has not been released yet. It also remains undetermined if the Maryland woman had any relation to the suspect.
