The Expanded Child Tax Credit 2023 funded by the U.S. federal government had already expired and has not been reinstated yet. It is still unclear whether Americans will see a new tax credit since it would require bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress.

According to Washington, there is a discussion about Democrats wanting to reinstate the Child Tax Credit 2023 and Republicans proposing other versions of the tax credit. Nonetheless, some U.S. states have decided to implement the tax credits on their own.

Child Tax Credit 2023 in Some U.S. States

An article in Yahoo Finance states that in Minnesota, the new Child Tax Credit 2023 is worth up to $1,750 per eligible child. Reportedly, this amount is the highest among the tax credits currently provided in other U.S. states.

In the state of New York, the new Child Tax Credit 2023 will now qualify children up to the age of 17. The state’s tax credits per eligible child are whichever is greater between $100 or the combination of 33% of the federal tax credits (currently up to $2,000) and the federal additional tax credits.

In the state of Colorado, the new Child Tax Credit 2023 has been increased to a maximum of $1,200 per child. On the other hand, in California, the tax credits are worth up to $1,083 per tax return.
