The teenager was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead

A teenager was shot dead on the Lower East Side early Sunday morning. It was the second time this weekend that someone had been shot dead in crowded Manhattan. He collapsed outside a store and was taken to a nearby hospital when police arrived. Officials say the teen was declared dead on arrival.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting nor if the victim was targeted. Investigation is ongoing

Police are searching for two men who fled west down Rivington Street but were not arrested. The shooting occurred about 800 meters from Orchard and Stanton Streets. This is where a 28-year-old man was shot in the head a week ago and seriously injured. Suspect DaJaun Bradley, 25, was charged with attempted murder in the 3 a.m. shooting on June 18 and is being held on $100,000 bail. Sunday’s homicide was the second reported murder this year in the 7th Precinct, which includes the Lower East Side, after two in the same period last year. The area has seen three shootings with three victims as of June 18, compared with four shootings with six victims in the same period last year.
