Marcel Lagrange Jr. was charged with murder for shooting a couple to death in front of their children in a parking lot in Maine. Reports say there was no known connection between the shooting suspect and the victims.
On June 19, at around 8:30 p.m., officers from Westbrook Police Department responded to reports about a shooting incident in a parking lot in Maine. Upon arriving at the location, they found a woman being shot near a vehicle.An article in Fox News states that a deceased man was also found in the vehicle, along with a 7-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy who witnessed the crime. The Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss stated that the shooting suspect also assaulted a 75-year-old bystander before several others tackled and disarmed him.
On June 20, the medical examiner’s office of Maine identified the victims as Michael Hayter, 41, and Brittney Cockrell, 36. Fortunately, both of their children were unharmed.

Charges Faced by Shooting Suspect
According to Neammanee, the shooting suspect was identified as Marcel Lagrange Jr., 24, of South Portland. Lagrange Jr. was then charged with two counts of murder. On June 20, investigators stated that there was no known connection between the shooting suspect and the victims. To date, Lagrange Jr. was detained in the Cumberland County Jail. However, it is not yet clear if he will be represented by a lawyer.
