Wagner Group Mercenaries Arrived At Russian City

Yevgeny Prigozhin, Wagner’s private military contractor leader made his challenge to the Kremlin on Friday and calls an armed rebellion to oust Russia’s defense minister. As a response to the threat, security services immediately called for the arrest of Prigozhin.

Security was heightened in Rostov-on-Don and Moscow as the Kremlin has taken the threat seriously.

In one of the videos posted on social media beginning late Friday, Yevgeny Prigozhin stated that Wagner Group Mercenaries will face no resistance at checkpoints who have young conscripts and they aren’t fighting against children. However, he also said that they will destroy anyone who stands in their way. They will move forward and will go until the end.

Prigozhin claimed that Gen. Valery Gerasimov has scrambled warplanes to strike Wagner’s convoys driving alongside ordinary vehicles. He added that a Russian military helicopter was shot by his forces, but there was no confirmation yet.

On the other hand, President Joe Biden had been briefed about the situation and the U.S. National Security Council spokesperson Adam Hodge said that they are closely monitoring the situation and will consult with partners and allies regarding steps to consider.
