2 Pennsylvania Police Troopers Shot, 1 Killed, in Manhunt Following Several Shootouts

Trooper Jacques F. Rougeau Jr. and Lt. James Wagner were shot following several shootouts with suspect Brandon Stine in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, between both Pennsylvania police troopers, Rougeau Jr. was shot to death.

In the morning of June 17, Brandon Stine, 38, drove to the barracks in Mifflintown and shot marked police cars using a long rifle. After Stine fled the crime scene in his pickup truck, a wide manhunt for the suspect began that involved helicopter reinforcement.

An article in CNN states that early that afternoon, Pennsylvania police trooper Lt. James Wagner was able to locate Stine and exchanged gunfire with the suspect. Unfortunately, Wagner was shot and sustained severe gunshot injury.

Wagner was immediately transported to Lewistown Hospital but was later flown to the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. As of June 18, reports say the Pennsylvania police trooper remained in critical condition.

Pennsylvania Police Trooper Killed

According to an article in 6ABC, another Pennsylvania police trooper, Jacques F. Rougeau Jr., 29, also encountered the suspect in an ambush. Reportedly, Stine’s gunshot went through Rougeau Jr.’s windshield which hit and killed him.

Stine was once again able to escape as he fled the crime scene into a rural residential area in Walker Township. When the authorities were able to confront him in a parking lot of a nearby store, the suspect once again started a shootout with them.

Eventually, the authorities were able to corner Stine when he got stuck among the trees on a nearby property. The suspect was then shot and killed.
