Up To $17,500 Provided For US Metals Refining Co. Lawsuit Settlement— See Who Qualifies!

Up to $17,500 will be provided for the settlement of the US Metals Refining Co. lawsuit. The plaintiffs claimed that they suffered harmful effects after a smelter site in New Jersey allegedly released contaminants into the air and soil.

The US Metals Refining Co.’s smelter site in Carteret, New Jersey was accused of releasing arsenic, lead, and other contaminants into the air and soil. This was after several individuals claimed that they have suffered harmful effects and that their property values had also been affected.

Nonetheless, according to Weiss, the US Metals Refining Co. agreed to settle the lawsuit and pay eligible individuals to resolve the allegations. This means that more than 1,000 residents in the area are eligible to make a claim for the payments of up to $17,500 per property.

Who is qualified for the US Metals Refining Co. settlement?

According to Yates, to be able to qualify for the settlement of the US Metals Refining Co., an individual must have currently or previously owned a residential property or vacant lots zone. These properties must be surrounded either by Cypress Street, Romanowski Street, Peter J. Sica Industrial Highway, Arthur and East Grant Streets, or Middlesex Avenue.

Nonetheless, these properties must have been owned from January 30, 2017 until March 27, 2023. All property owners must then submit a valid claim form on or before June 26. The “Fairness Hearing” which will determine whether the US Metals Refining Co.’s settlement is approved or not is scheduled on July 26.
