New Jersey Lawyer Matthew Nilo Charged In Linked To Boston Serial Rape Will Post Bail, Attorney Says

During a brief court hearing on Monday, the New Jersey lawyer was accused in connection with serial sexual assaults that occurred 15 years ago in Boston and is expected to post bail, his attorney claimed.

New Jersey Lawyer Matthew Nilo Indicted In Connection With Boston Sexual Assaults Will Post Bail

Matthew Nilo 35 years old, of Weehawken, New Jersey was not present in the Boston courtroom. On behalf of the New Jersey Lawyer, his attorney Joseph Cataldo had explained to the judge that his client was prepared to post the $500,000 bail that was established last week when he pleaded not guilty to charges of two counts of kidnapping, three counts of aggravated rape, one count of assault with intent to rape and one count of indecent assault and battery.

Moreover, AP News reported that Nilo is also instructed to wear a tracking device, have to surrender his passport, have no contact with any victims or witnesses, and stay away from the area where the assaults occurred.

The Indictment Comes From The Attacks That Happened In Boston

The indictments are related to four attacks that occurred in Boston’s Charlestown neighborhood between August 2007 through December 2008, during which authorities declared that Nilo lived in the city.

Prosecutors said at Nilo’s arraignment last week found that he was tied to the attacks through DNA obtained from a drinking glass that he had used at a business event earlier this year.

During the hearing, Cataldo questioned the legality of his client’s DNA being taken without a warrant. Nilo was arrested in late May. He is expected to be back in court on July 13.
