Ted Kaczynski’s Death During Life Sentence

Ted Kaczynski‘s death shocked news outlets. The convicted terrorist Ted Kaczynski, also known as  “Unabomber” has died in an apparent suicide, according to sources told by CBS News.

This news was confirmed by CBS News as Kaczynski was found unresponsive last Saturday morning in his prison at the federal medical facility in Butler, North Carolina.

Ted Kaczynski had been serving a life sentence at the facility. Before his transfer to Butler, North Carolina federal medical facility, he had been serving his life sentence at the federal supermax prison in Florence, Colorado, and was transferred last December 2021 to North Carolina because of health reasons.

After officials found Ted Kaczynski unresponsive, they immediately performed life-saving measures and transported him to a near hospital but he was later pronounced dead at around 8 a.m., the U.S. Department of Justice said in their news release.

Ted Kaczynski’s Death Confirmed

Ted Kaczynski’s death was confirmed. Before his death, he was arrested last 1996 after two decades of involvement in terrorism that sends homemade bombs through the mail. 24 were injured and 3 people were killed because of his bombings.

Ted Kaczynski was arrested in 1996 and pleaded guilty to charges of the use of a destructive device for a crime of violence, mailing an explosive device with the intent to kill or injure, and transportation of an explosive with intent to kill or injure.

Kaczynski is a former UC Berkeley math professor and a Harvard-trained mathematician, he was found by the FBI in Montana after a nearly 20-year manhunt.

He was turned in by his wife and brother on April 3, 1996.
