A Colorado county legislator missed re-election by a large majority just one month after appearing in a bailout video.
Tuesday night’s District 9 election results showed that incumbent Candi CdeBaca lost to challenger Darrell Watson
CdeBaca was featured in a video in May arguing that white-owned businesses should be taxed more heavily and that compensation should be distributed to minority-owned owners. Watson won 60.71% of the vote while CdeBaca fell far behind with 39.29%.
Capitalism was built on stolen land labor, and resources said CdeBaca of the Metropolitan Denver Alliance of Ministers.
The city councilman also explained that the election was not about him but about building strength in the community
CdeBaca explained that although the election results did not live up to expectations the aim of the election was to put more progressive candidates in parliamentary seats.
I am so grateful to our community, all of whom have poured their hearts and souls into this movement, reads CdeBaca’s statement. I will not stop fighting alongside my community for a city that truly cares for all of its residents because District 9 and Denver have always been at my heart.
