David Fullard and Omarri Shariff Tobias shot at each other after an argument over where to get off. Fortunately, both the Charlotte bus driver and passenger are in stable condition and in the process of recovery.

On May 18, a passenger identified as Omarri Shariff Tobias asked a Charlotte bus driver to pull over between designated bus stops. However, the driver, David Fullard, told Tobias to wait until the next authorized stop.

An article in CNN states that after about two minutes, Tobias pulled out a firearm and pointed it at Fullard. Because of this, the Charlotte bus driver also withdrew a gun. Thereafter, both men fired their weapons although it is still unclear who made the first shot. Reports say Fullard was hit in his arm, while Tobias was shot in his abdomen.

A video of the shootout showed that the Charlotte bus driver still had his gun drawn when he stood up from his seat. On the other hand, Tobias crawled toward the back of the bus where two other passengers also were and when Fullard fired again. Tobias and another passenger reportedly exited through the side door, while the Charlotte bus driver exited through the front where he fired his gun again.

Charges Faced by Charlotte Bus Driver and Passenger

According to an article in NBC News, both the Charlotte bus driver and the passenger are in stable condition and in the process of recovery. However, Tobias faced charges of carrying a concealed firearm. communicating threats, and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injuries.

Furthermore, Tobias is being held in lieu of a bond worth $250,000. Reportedly, he is also scheduled to be back in court on June 6. However, to date, there is still no attorney designated for him

On the other hand, it is still unclear whether Fullard will also face charges. Nonetheless, the Charlotte bus driver was fired by his employer, RATP Dev. This is because possession of weapons while on duty is apparently prohibited by the company.
