Reports say, Bradley Gillespie, 50, had been imprisoned for murder since 2016. However, on May 23, he and another inmate, James Lee, 47, escaped the Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution in Lima, Ohio. Lee was reportedly imprisoned for safecracking and burglary in 2021.

According to Wehner, on May 24, a stolen car that Gillespie and Lee were suspected to be driving was pursued by authorities in Kentucky. Reportedly, the vehicle crashed and both inmates fled from the crime scene on foot. However, Lee was arrested on the scene, while Gillespie escaped once again. Nonetheless, during a press conference on the afternoon of May 28, the Henderson Police Department announced that they have found the dead body of the remaining Ohio inmate floating in a river.

Upon responding to the scene, the authorities verified that it was indeed a dead body found near the Ohio inmate’s last confirmed location.

McKinney states that he believes they already have closure to the five-day manhunt for the wanted Ohio inmate. On May 30, McKinney adds that there will be an autopsy conducted for the dead body recovered. To date, the decomposition of the body indicated that it had already been dead for around 5 days. However, it is still not clear how long the Ohio inmate had been in the water.
