In May 2020, an altercation between Calvin Munerlyn, then 43, and Sharmel Teague, 47, occurred in Flint, Michigan. The Family Dollar security guard reportedly told Sharmel’s daughter, Brya Bishop, that she needed to wear a face mask inside the store.

An article in CNN states that Brya was seen leaving the store, but Sharmel was still yelling at Munerlyn. Eventually, Sharmel left the Family Dollar. However, almost 20 minutes later, Sharmel’s husband, Larry Teague, 47, and son, Ramonyea Bishop, 26, arrived. Reports say Larry yelled at Munerlyn for disrespecting his wife. Thereafter, Ramonyea allegedly shot Munerlyn in the head who later died at a hospital.

According to an article in NBC Chicago, Sharmel, Larry, and Ramonyea were each convicted and faced charges of felony firearms and murder. In addition, Larry was also convicted of a habitual offender offense.

Documents from the Genesee County Circuit Court states that a jury sentenced all shooting suspects to life in prison for murder. Furthermore, an additional 2 years was also sentenced for the firearms charge.

Brya, on the other hand, faced charges of being an accessory after the fact to a felony, lying to police investigating a violent crime, and tampering with evidence. Reportedly, Brya was sentenced last November to serve probation.
