Man Sentenced To 50 Years In Prison For Strangling Teenage Girl

A 53-year-old man is likely to spend the rest of his life in jail for strangling a 17-year-old girl who came to his home to buy a Disney mug he offered at a flea market four years ago.

Teenage girl dies in Disney Cup-related crime

Adara Bunn was an innocent girl who wanted a new collection of Disney merchandise. She received an offer from a 53-year-old man who claimed to be mentally ill. The crime was reported early on May 15, About two months after a jury convicted Arthur Jensen of murder, a judge sentenced him to 50 years in prison at the Illinois Department of Corrections.

On August 5, 2019, the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department visited Jensen’s home after receiving a call about the disturbance. Officers later found Bunn’s body on the bathroom floor and immediately took Jensen into custody on murder charges.

Ligature strangulation causes instant death

An autopsy report revealed that Bunn died from strangulation with ligatures.

One of Jensen’s neighbors heard screams from her home and called 911, according to the Daily Journal. When police arrived the man went outside and said, “There was a girl inside and he strangled him.” Bunn reportedly visited Jensen’s home the weekend he died.

Jensen had bought Disney mugs and other merchandise at garage sales. Jensen reportedly told Bunn to return to her house the next day to pick up her matching set, and when she did so, he murdered Bunn.
