People.com reported that a high school cheerleader in Arizona was shot to death at a house party by an unknown gunman over the weekend, while the suspect remains at large.
High School Cheerleader Shot to Death
An Arizona high school cheerleader was shot to death while leaving a house party this weekend, she was shot by an unknown gunman, authorities confirmed.
Desiree Rivas, a 17-year-old high school cheerleader was identified as the victim of the fatal shooting, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.
The high school cheerleader was pronounced dead at the scene outside a Phoenix home on Sunday midnight, KPNX-TV reported.
Her cheerleading team at Cesar Chavez High School mourns the death of Desiree Rivas and posted on social media.

High School Cheerleader’s Team Offered Prayers
The high school cheerleader’s team offered prayers for the death of Desiree Rivas. Their hearts are broken into a million pieces because of the incident. They have the heaviest hearts about the tragic loss of their athlete, friend, and student in their school.
Counselors will go to their campus to cope with the tremendous loss that Rivas’s classmates and students experienced.
There was a vigil on Monday night that commemorated Desiree Rivas.
