Sunday, a 20-year-old father from Texas was arrested after he shot and killed his eight-month-old daughter while struggling over a handgun with the baby’s mother, according to the police.

The father, identified as Alejandro Martinez, was taken into custody and charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury in connection with his daughter’s death on April 12.

Meanwhile, the mother of the Texas baby was known as Ruby Mora, 21 years old was first arrested and faced the same as the father’s charges.

The Incident Of The Crime

The People News reported that the San Antonio Police Department claimed, Mora confessed to the police that she fought with Martinez in the car while was carrying her daughter over a gun that she owned.

She explained that she wanted the handgun back and they began to struggle for the gun while saying their 8-month-old baby girl, police said. When Mora and Martinez were fighting and struggling with the gun, the trigger accidentally went off and struck her daughter in the torso and Mora in the hand, KSAT reported, citing an arrest warrant affidavit.

The mother and child were rushed to the hospital by family members but unfortunately, the Texas baby later died at the hospital.

In the incident, Martinez allegedly escaped from the scene and was later picked up by police at a motel on May 6

It’s unclear if Mora and Martinez have entered pleas or retained attorneys.
