Illinois governor JB Pritzker (D) will is expected to sign a bill that would withhold state funds from schools that are banning books amid nationwide actions to remove some titles from shelves.
A Bill That Will Prevent Banning Book In Illinois
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) is expected to sign a bill that will prevent book banning in Illinois libraries according to Alexi Giannoulias said Illinois Secretary of State.
Moreover, Pritzker is supporting the state’s H.B. 2789 which withholds state funding from any 1,600 public or school libraries that are banning books from their shelves. Furthermore, the House Bill mandated to adopt of the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights which means “indicates materials should not be proscribed or taken away because of partisan or doctrinal disapproval.”
The bill is already waiting for the governor’s signature. In March Pritzker stated that banning books is a wrong move to remove them from the culture or the history.
The Daily News reported that the bill will reportedly allow the Land of Lincoln which distributes $62 million yearly to its 1,600 public and school libraries to withhold funds from institutions practicing literary censorship.

Sen. Jason Plummer (R) Is Against Pritzker’s Government Principles
Sen. Jason Plummer Republican in Illinois state expressed that Pritzker’s decisions are disrespectful to inflict some threat in withholding public funds from the Illinois resident who settled their taxes for these grants just because certain politicians may not agree with their sentiments about banning books.
On Wednesday, Plummer called the lawmaking an illustration of Democrats pushing an ideology toward Illinois residents, regardless of their beliefs and where they live.
