Social media giant agreed to pay a $725 million Facebook settlement payout after the decision released by the California federal judge last month.
$725 Facebook Settlement Payout
A California federal judge released its preliminary approval last month for an amount of $725 million as a Facebook settlement payout. This is after users of Facebook claimed that the social media giant allowed their data to be accessible to third parties even without their consent.
The parent company Meta first agreed to settle the class action lawsuit after the 2018 Cambridge Analytica scandal in 2018, according to a report published in USA Today. However, Meta denied the allegation, any liabilities, or wrongdoings.
Meanwhile, the final approval of the Facebook settlement payout will happen several months from now. Those who qualified for the settlement need to submit a claim.

Who Qualifies for the Facebook Settlement Payout?
Eligible to claim a part of the settlement are those who used Facebook between May 2007 and December 2022. In a published article in WHO News Radio, anyone who had a Facebook account between May 24, 2007 and December 22, 2022 is included in the Facebook settlement payout.
It is expected that there will be around 250 to 280 million Facebook users who will receive a portion of the settlement. However, the amount to be received is still not yet certain. This can only be determined after the final approval hearing scheduled on Sept. 7 this year.
