Rachel Cooper was sentenced to 2 years in prison for pushing an elderly man to his death. Reports say the North Dakota caregiver and the victim were struggling at the entrance of a bathroom when the incident happened.
On August 3, 2021, at around 6 p.m., police authorities received a report that an elderly man was pushed and fell at the Maple View Memory Care center at 4552 36th Ave. S. According to a criminal complaint, the North Dakota caregiver, Rachel Cooper, 60, was cleaning the victim, Gary Pearson, then 78, ‘s bathroom when the two struggled at the entrance of a bathroom by the door.According to Hurley, the complaint reported Cooper pushing Pearson with both of her hands that caused him to fall backward. However, Cooper argued to the police that Pearson was preventing her from leaving the bathroom. Hence, the North Dakota caregiver pushed him with an arm that caused Pearson to stumble and fall to his death.

North Dakota Caregiver Pleaded Guilty
An article on the Fox News states that on March 20, the North Dakota caregiver was sentenced to two years in prison for the death of Pearson. Cooper reportedly pleaded guilty to the negligent homicide charge she faced. In addition to the sentencing, a jury in Fargo, North Dakota also sentenced Cooper to two years of probation with supervision.
