Verdict on the Double Murder
According to Bogel-Burroughs, Murdaugh has still insisted that he did not murder his own wife and son. However, Newman stated that the evidence against Murdaugh is overwhelming. Reports say Murdaugh used a shotgun to kill Paul, 22, inside a feed room that is attached to the dog kennels. On the other hand, Maggie, 52, was allegedly killed using a rifle. The double murder reportedly happened on June 7, 2021 at Moselle, the family’s hunting estate in Islandton, South Carolina.
Eventually, the jury found Murdaugh guilty of two counts each of possession of a weapon in the commission of a violent felony and murder for killing both Maggie and Paul. On March 2, after deliberating for more than two hours in the Colleton County Courthouse, the panel declared their verdict as guilty.
