Theresa Cain allegedly shot her husband, son, and father to death before turning the gun on herself in a murder suicide incident. Theresa also shot her daughter who is still in a critical condition to date.
On February 27, deputies have reportedly heard a gun going off five times shortly before arriving at a residence in Ohio Township, a suburb of Cincinnati. These deputies made countless attempts to reach the occupants inside the residence to no avail. Eventually, the Sheriff’s Special Response Team was contacted to respond to the location and enter the residence.According to Rumpf, upon entering the residence, the authorities discovered five bodies. Reports say the bodies belonged to Theresa Cain, 46, her husband, Steven Cain, 50, her son, Ethan Cain, 13, and her father, William Felton, 74. Money Problems Triggered Murder Suicide
According to Balagtas, Sheriff Steve Leahy of Clermont County believes that the gunshots were made to intimidate the deputies from entering the residence. Leahy also stated that Steven was shot in the basement 30 minutes earlier and the rest of the victims were shot only shortly before the deputies arrived.
In addition, the authorities believe that Theresa was responsible for the murder suicide incident. Leahy stated that the physical evidence and the positioning of the bodies led authorities to believe that Theresa shot the victims to death. Authorities also shared that the Cain family had been suffering from financial problems that caused the foreclosure of their home.
Steven Cain, Theresa’s husband, was reportedly a singer of Critical Khaos, a thrash metal band. Steven’s bandmates posted a GoFundMe link created by Steven’s sister to help the family cover the funeral expenses for Steven and his son, Ethan.
