Akesha Norman was arrested after allegedly killing a 100-year-old man in California. The hit and run suspect was located using a surveillance video that captured the incident.
On February 18, at around 7 a.m., a 100-year-old man named Tzu-Ta Ko was hit by a white Mini Cooper at 19th and Harrison streets by Lake Merritt. Ko was reportedly a Taiwanese immigrant and a retired government official. In November last year, he turned 100. The Oakland Police Department officers stated on February 24 that during the collision, Ko suffered from severe head trauma.An article on the KTVU website states that the Oakland Police was able to identify the hit and run suspect as Akesha Norman, 48. Norman was reportedly located and arrested because of a surveillance video and images that captured the fatal hit and run incident.

“Never Leave the Scene”
According to Vacchiano, Shirley, Ko’s daughter, stated that she was still in shock over the victim’s death. Shirley’s mom, Ko’s wife, also passed away last January. Shirley said she was really close with her father, hence, the state of shock. Shirley also stated that everyone should learn from her father who lived for a hundred years by exercising and taking care of himself.
