Shooting Suspect Fled After Firing Gunshots In East Memphis Walmart

The shooting suspect who fired gunshots inside a Walmart store in East Memphis fled the scene after the incident. To date, a possible motive for the shooting incident is still unclear to authorities.

On February 24, at around 8:54 p.m., the Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to reports about a shooting incident. The incident was located inside the Walmart Supercenter at 7525 Winchester Road near 385. Several Walmart employees and customers reportedly called 911 when a shooting suspect allegedly fired multiple gunshots inside the store. Unfortunately, when Memphis Police arrived at the scene, the shooting suspect had already fled.

An article on WREG states that the Memphis Police immediately evacuated the victims inside the Walmart store and conducted a sweep of the establishment for shell casings left by the shooting suspect. There were no reported injuries, but the establishment was put under lockdown. To date, the authorities continue to investigate the crime scene.

Further Investigations to the Shooting Incident

According to Richard, on February 25, the Memphis Police provided an updated timeline of the shooting incident. Reports say that witnesses claimed the shooting suspect was wearing dark clothes and seen running with a gun toward an unoccupied vehicle. The vehicle was reportedly a Jeep that fled at a high speed before the police can arrive.

A police officer from MPD stated that investigators are still looking to verify whether the gun was actually fired. In addition, there is still no confirmed count of how many people were inside the Walmart store when the alleged shooting suspect fired the gunshots. To date, a possible motive for the shooting incident is still unclear to the authorities as well.
