A school photographer in Arizona, Robert Anthony Lagunas, was arrested last week on allegations of sexually exploiting minors. The arrest was made following an investigation that began in November 2022 after an undercover agent with Homeland Security Investigations saw Lagunas distribute child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) from an account on a secure messaging platform, as reported by Fox10 Phoenix on February 7, 2023.
The materials were distributed In a public chatroom, and the platform was only identified as “Chat Application A,” according to court documents. The undercover agent was able to access the chatroom and observed Lagunas making comments about the CSAM to other members. The agent reached out to Lagunas and was informed that he was a school photographer and was talking to teens on another chat platform.
Based on the information gathered during the investigation, a search warrant was obtained and executed at Lagunas’ Gilbert home. The agents allegedly found several CSAM images on a computer, and during questioning, Lagunas admitted to molesting two children in California.
Lagunas’ bail was set at $100,000 cash, and if he can post the money, he will be placed on house arrest and banned from contacting any minors. He will also be prohibited from going onto the internet except for work-related or case-related reasons.
