It has never been simpler to track your tax refund. There are free resources available, including the IRS “Where’s My Refund?” tool and USPS Informed Delivery, which enable taxpayers to track their tax refund and know precisely when it will arrive.
Twenty-four hours after an e-filed return is received, you can check the status of your refund by using the “Where’s My Refund?” tool on IRS.gov or the IRS2Go App. After the return is handled and a refund is granted, this tool also offers a personalized date. Most tax refunds are processed within 21 days, but some may take longer if the return needs to be reviewed more thoroughly.
You need to enter your Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, your filing status, and the expected refund amount in order to use the “Where’s My Refund?” tool. This tool receives one daily update from the IRS, usually at night.
You can also use USPS Informed Delivery if a paper check is what you’re anticipating receiving in the mail.
According to an article published by Go Banking Rates on February 03, 2023, you must confirm that Informed Delivery is offered in your area before signing up for it. Visit the USPS Informed Delivery page and click “Sign Up for Free” if it’s available.
After providing your mailing address, agree to the terms. A username, password, and security key should then be selected. After entering your contact information, click continue.
You must prove your identity. Choose “Verify identity online” to get a verification code texted to your phone, or choose “Request invitation code by mail” to have a code mailed to you by the USPS. To personally confirm your identity, you can also go to your local post office.
