Scott Swartz was arrested after assaulting his 78-year-old father in Iowa. To date, further investigations into the case are still ongoing.
On January 7, at around 3 p.m., the Marshalltown Police officers have responded to a request to perform a welfare check at the 1100 block of South 5th Avenue. Upon arriving at the location, the police have discovered an elderly victim severely beaten to the point of needing emergency medical attention. The victim was then immediately transferred to a hospital for an emergency care. According to criminal complaints filed for the case, the victim obtained trauma to the head, facial fractures, a broken hip and ribs, and other injuries due to the assault. During the investigations, the police have identified the suspect as Scott Swartz, 47, the very own son of the 78-year-old victim, as reported by True Crime Daily.
Investigations Still Ongoing
According to True Crime Daily, Swartz was then arrested for the assault and faced criminal charges for the possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm, domestic abuse, and attempt to commit murder. Swartz is now booked into the Marshall County Jail. His bond is set at $50,000 for the criminal charge of an attempt to commit murder. To date, further investigations into the case are still ongoing.
