The infant was taken to Arkansas Methodist Hospital unresponsive on April 6. According to the authorities, the infant was resuscitated and taken to Memphis’ Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, where he remained in critical condition until his death on May 5, according to the Paragould police arrest affidavit, per Arkansas Democrat $ Gazette.

Cause of Death

According to the affidavit, the infant suffered a skull fracture, a right femur fracture, and methamphetamine in his system. On the one hand, according to the police, some officers were present when Haley Sarrels claimed she had used methamphetamine near the newborn the night before the incident. According to the affidavit, she told authorities she put the boy down to sleep for about an hour and a half before she discovered that the boy is no longer conscious.

When the youngster was discovered unresponsive, authorities found 12 blankets, a towel, two pillows, and some toys in his cot. Furthermore, according to the affidavit, the infant’s death was caused by methamphetamine exposure compounded by a hazardous sleeping environment.

Nevertheless, Sarrels was charged with manslaughter and the introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another individual, according to police. According to the jail’s inmate registry, Sarrels was booked into the Greene County jail on Monday and remained there without bond on Tuesday.
