Millions of Californians may be eligible for the next round of Golden State stimulus checks, which will be sent on Friday. California taxpayers may get $600 from the scheme, plus an extra $500 if they have dependents.

The federal government has failed to authorize a fourth stimulus check. On the other hand, individual states may still implement their own stimulus checks on a local level. Governor Gavin Newsom’s introduction of the Golden State Stimulus Checks was based on this reasoning.

In their “California Comeback Plan,” the state allocated $100 billion to offer urgent assistance to families affected by the epidemic. According to Cnet, about two-thirds of California taxpayers should be eligible for “the largest state tax refund in American history.”

On August 27, the first round of payments, known as Golden State Stimulus I (GSS I), was made available. The Golden State Stimulus II (GSS II) is a new batch that will be distributed on Friday.

How To Qualify For $600 or $1100 Golden State Stimulus Check

The amount of money you may get from Golden State Stimulus checks is determined by a number of variables. These facts were reported by Cnet.

Residents earning less than $30,000 received a one-time payout of $600 or $1200 under the GSS I program. People who received money through the Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) or filed taxes with an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) are also eligible (ITIN).

The criteria for GSS II payments were extended so that more Californians may benefit from the program. All Californians who fulfill the following criteria will get a $600 payout under GSS II:

  • By October 15, you should have filed and submitted your 2020 tax returns.
  • Has a California Adjusted Gross Income (CA AGI) of less than $75,000 for the tax year
  • Another taxpayer cannot claim it as a dependant.
  • Must have lived in the state for more than half of the 2020 tax year and must have remained a resident at the time of payment distribution.

Some Californians who have previously received GSS I benefits may still be eligible for GSS II benefits. Only taxpayers who have qualified dependents, such as children or relatives, listed on their 2020 tax forms will get the additional $500.

To be clear, only taxpayers who meet the aforementioned criteria and have dependants included on their 2020 tax returns are eligible for the full $1100 GSS II payment.

Californians who do not receive CalWorks, Social Security, unemployment, or state disability payments are not eligible for the program.

Fourth Stimulus Check: How To Get GSS II

California stimulus funds are distributed twice a month in two rounds. Following this Friday’s payment, the next GSS II payment should arrive in October.

Late filers who filed their state tax forms after August 20 must wait at least 45 days for the payment to be processed.

Payments are often made by direct deposit to bank accounts listed on the tax return profile. Others, who do not have direct deposit, will get their stimulus money in the form of a paper check.

Finally, remember that state stimulus cheques and GSS payments cannot be confiscated or offset to pay off debt.
