Southeast Michigan Braces for 4 Inches of Snow: Winter Weather Advisory in Effect Until Saturday

Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan residents should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility as a Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect this afternoon. The National Weather Service warns that between 2 and 4 inches of snow are expected across the region, with peak snowfall rates likely to coincide with the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory begins at 1 p.m. today and extends through 1 a.m. Saturday. Snowfall is predicted to be heaviest between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., with accumulation rates exceeding a quarter inch per hour during this period. Total snowfall is expected to taper off overnight.

Drivers are advised to slow down and use caution, especially on major thoroughfares like I-75, I-94, and the Lodge Freeway. Plan for extra travel time, as slippery roads and reduced visibility could make conditions dangerous.

The weekend forecast shows drier conditions beginning Saturday morning, with partly sunny skies and a high of 31°F. Sunday is expected to remain cloudy, with highs near 30°F and a chance of additional snow Sunday night. The colder pattern continues into next week, with lows dropping to 14°F by Monday night.
