Houston, TX – Southeast Texas residents should prepare for a wet and stormy end to the week as heavy rain and thunderstorms move into the Houston area Thursday. Temperatures will remain low, with a high of 45 degrees, and strong winds could make conditions dangerous for small vessels and high-profile vehicles.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers will develop Thursday morning, intensifying into heavy rain by the afternoon. Thunderstorms could bring gusty winds of up to 25 mph, especially along the I-45 corridor. Drivers should exercise caution during the morning and evening commutes as localized flooding is possible on low-lying roads.

A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until noon Thursday for the Galveston Bay area, with seas expected to reach five to seven feet. Mariners are advised to avoid venturing out until conditions improve late Thursday night.

Looking ahead, Friday will bring lingering rain in the morning, followed by gradual clearing. Temperatures will climb to a high of 51 degrees. Sunshine returns Saturday, with highs near 60, offering a brief reprieve from the cold and wet conditions before clouds increase again early next week.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates and prepare for possible disruptions due to rain and storms Thursday.
