Las Vegas, NV – Strong north winds are sweeping through the Las Vegas Valley today, bringing gusts as high as 40 mph. Residents should secure outdoor items and drive cautiously, especially high-profile vehicles. The wind advisory is in effect until noon, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory, issued early Wednesday morning, warns of sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with stronger gusts in areas such as Boulder City, Henderson, and the eastern Sierra slopes. Officials caution that unsecured objects like trash cans and outdoor furniture may be blown over. Power outages are possible in some areas due to fallen branches.

Looking ahead, winds will gradually ease by afternoon, providing some relief. However, another round of gusty north winds is expected to return Thursday. Thursday’s forecast predicts sunny skies with a high near 63 degrees, though winds could reach up to 30 mph again by nightfall.

Friday and Saturday will bring clearer skies and lighter winds, with temperatures reaching the upper 50s and low 60s. Residents planning weekend outdoor activities can expect calm conditions and cooler evenings with lows in the 30s.

For those traveling, high winds can make driving dangerous, especially for semi-trucks and other high-profile vehicles along I-15. Use extra caution and avoid unnecessary trips during peak gust times.
