A Middlesboro man has been charged with custodial interference and unlawful transaction with a minor in the third degree after traveling to Tennessee with a 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing.
On Friday, Dec. 27, WRIL reported that a family member of 14-year-old Kailyn Brock made a social media post about her disappearance and that she was with a 20-year-old male later identified as Kolton Raske. The two had left in a black Cobalt early that morning. Soon after, they filed a report with the Middlesboro Police Department.
Around 8:25 p.m. that day, the Campbell County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office informed Middlesboro Police about the location of Brock and Raske. Police arrested Raske and accused him of sheltering or concealing a runaway child. The family of Kailyn Brock received her release. Raske eventually left detention on an undisclosed bond.
On Wednesday, January 1, Middlesboro Police, led by Lt./Detective Barry Cowan, discovered Raske at the Hinks Heights Apartments in Middlesboro. Just before noon, police took him into jail without incident.
According to the citation, “Raske took the 14-year-old to Tennessee in fear of facing trouble for having a relationship with the female.”
The Bell County Detention Center booked Kolton Raske on charges of custodial interference and unlawful transaction with a child in the third degree.
Lt./Detective Barry Cowan is in charge of this investigation. Officers Justice, Partin, Quillen, and Captain Joe Holder also arrived on the scene to help.
