The Tennessee Criminal Court of Appeals has denied a new trial for a man who was found guilty of murdering his 5-year-old son with autism.
Joseph Daniels, who had previously been denied a new trial in 2022, will once again be denied a new trial. This comes after his conviction in September 2021 for the second-degree murder and felony murder of his son, Joe Clyde.
According to Daniels’ attorney, their next course of action is to petition the Tennessee Supreme Court for a new trial. He mentioned that in his four decades of experience, the state Supreme Court has only approved one such request for a new trial.
The convicted murderer will remain in prison for the rest of his life.
In April 2018, the Daniels family reported Joe Clyde missing. His body was never located, and Joseph and Krystal Daniels were jailed on charges related to his disappearance and treatment.
According to authorities, Krystal admitted to being at their home on April 4, 2018, when Joseph killed Joe Clyde. Her oldest son claimed to have seen his mother dragging Joe Clyde’s body outside.
