Wilmington, NC – Southeastern North Carolina is bracing for a sharp drop in temperatures as an Arctic air mass sweeps through the region. A Cold Weather Advisory will be in effect from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, with wind chills as low as 12°F expected in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will fall into the low 20s overnight, with gusty winds making it feel even colder. Residents are advised to limit outdoor exposure, wear layers, and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets. Frostbite and hypothermia are risks with prolonged exposure.
Thursday’s Forecast:
Thursday will remain cold, with a high of 41°F and clear skies. Winds will blow from the northwest at 9 to 13 mph, adding to the chill. By Thursday night, temperatures will drop to the low 20s, with calmer winds expected.
Looking Ahead:
• Friday: A slight chance of rain and snow in the afternoon, with a high near 44°F.
• Friday Night: Wintry mix expected before midnight, then rain, with a low of 33°F.
• Saturday: Rain continues early but clears by afternoon, with a high near 52°F.
• Sunday: Sunny and seasonable, with a high near 47°F.
