Louisville, KY – A winter storm watch has been issued for central and southern Kentucky, with snowfall accumulations of up to 5 inches expected between Thursday night and Friday night. The National Weather Service in Louisville warns of potentially hazardous conditions impacting travel across the region.

According to the advisory, moderate to heavy snowfall is forecast for areas including Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, Richmond, and Bardstown. The snow will begin late Thursday night and continue through Friday, with localized amounts exceeding 5 inches in some areas. The Friday evening commute is expected to be particularly treacherous due to slick roads and reduced visibility.

Bridges and overpasses are likely to become icy, with drivers urged to exercise caution and allow extra travel time. Local authorities recommend monitoring updates as the system develops and preparing for potential delays.

The winter storm watch affects portions of east-central, north-central, northwest, and south-central Kentucky. Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official weather channels and make necessary preparations ahead of the storm.
