Kay NewsCow | Ponca City teen convicted in four felony cases


NEWKIRK — Adan Junior Pena III, 18, Ponca City, appeared in Kay County District Court on Jan. 6 and entered no contest pleas in four cases.

On July 11, 2024, Pena was charged with felony counts of possession of a firearm after adjudication as a delinquent child, reckless conduct with a firearm and a misdemeanor count of  contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In that case Pena is now convicted of shooting a firearm near Cleveland and Union. (see story)

In that case he is sentenced to a one-year suspended sentence in the county jail.

On Aug. 5, Pena was charged with felony counts of possession of a firearm after adjudication and two counts of knowingly concealing and or receiving stolen property after being arrested by a Kay County deputy.

In that case he is sentenced to a 10-year suspended prison sentence.

On Oct. 28 Pena was charged with first degree burglary, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm after adjudication as a delinquent child and knowingly receiving or concealing stolen property.

Ponca City police report that officers responded to the 300 block of south Oak for a report of a male assaulted with a handgun. The victim told police he was sitting on the couch when a male, later identified as Pena, entered his home and pointed a gun to his face.

The victim said that Pena pushed the slide of the gun back and fourth but that it was not loaded.

Pena left the residence when the man’s sister entered the room and grabbed him.

Police report that the victim sustained a two-inch laceration on the left side of his head.

A short time later police responded to another residence in the block for a report of a man destroying property. Pena was located and arrested.

In that case Pena was sentenced to a 10-year suspended prison sentence.

On Nov. 20, Pena was charged with felony counts of kidnapping and domestic abuse as well as misdemeanor charges of leaving the scene of an accident, DUI and transporting an open container.

Ponca City police report that on Nov. 9 officers responded to the 1000 block of north Osage for a report of a hit and run.

Police report that Pena and Riley Jernigan were detained at the scene.

Jernigan reportedly told police that Pena was driving and was mad. She said that he was speeding when he hit a curb and lost control, striking multiple vehicles in the neighborhood.

Police report that marijuana and vodka were found in the vehicle.

Officers located Pena and report that he was so drunk he couldn’t speak clearly. Police report that two parked vehicles were struck by Jernigan’s Jeep. A Buick sedan was struck on the back driver’s side quarter panel and spun around 180 degrees. A red Chevy truck was struck in the rear bumper resulting in the ball hitch on the back of the truck being buried in the ground.

In that case Pena was sentenced to a 20-year suspended prison sentence.
