Monroe County, MS – The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Monroe County on Friday night, leaving a 0.69-mile path of destruction. Peak winds were estimated at 100 mph, with a maximum width of 120 yards.
The storm, which occurred between 7:08 and 7:09 p.m., caused no reported injuries or fatalities, according to preliminary survey results released Saturday. Nearby counties, including Tunica and Tate, experienced straight-line winds reaching 65 mph, but no tornadoes were reported.
The Monroe County twister is part of a broader storm system that swept through the region, prompting severe weather alerts and leaving thousands without power. Survey teams continue to assess the full extent of damage across affected areas.
