Reno, NV – Light rain and snow are expected across western Nevada today as a storm system moves into the region. Forecasters predict mostly dry conditions this afternoon, with additional precipitation arriving by evening. Residents should prepare for slippery roads, especially in higher elevations, where snow showers are likely to intensify after sunset.
According to the National Weather Service, a 20% chance of rain is forecast for Reno through 10 p.m., with temperatures dropping to 26°F tonight. Areas above 6,000 feet may see snow accumulations as colder air settles over the region. Winds are expected to remain light but could create icy conditions on mountain roads such as Mount Rose Highway.
Tuesday will bring cooler temperatures, with a high of 41°F and partly cloudy skies. Winds will shift to the northeast at around 5 mph. Conditions will improve steadily through the week, with sunny skies and highs near 49°F by Thursday. Friday could see temperatures climb to 56°F, offering a welcome break from this week’s colder weather.
Drivers along the I-580 corridor and in mountainous areas should remain cautious and check road conditions before traveling. For those in the Reno area, it’s a good time to secure outdoor items as winds may strengthen by midweek.
