Alamogordo Man Ty Huntington Faces Murder Charges Following Deadly Shooting


On Saturday, December 14, 2024, an arrest was made in connection with a shooting incident at the Desert View Mobile Home Park in Alamogordo, New Mexico. At approximately 6:04 p.m., officers from the Alamogordo Police Department responded to reports of gunshots at 904 S. Florida Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a 46-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts by officers and AMR, the man unfortunately died from his injuries.

The 12th Judicial District Major Crimes Unit, consisting of investigators from the Alamogordo Police Department, Otero County Sheriff’s Office, 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Ruidoso Police Department, and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, was activated to investigate the incident. After gathering information from the Alamogordo Police Department’s Patrol Division, they identified a person of interest.

Through intense investigation efforts, the Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from Otero County Sheriff’s Deputies and Alamogordo Police Officers, located and apprehended the suspect at a residence in Vista Verde Mobile Home Park, located at 3050 Hwy. 54 South.

Ty Huntington, 29, of Alamogordo, was arrested and charged with open murder and tampering with evidence. He was processed and booked into the Otero County Detention Center, where he awaits his court appearance.

Huntington has a long history of law enforcement encounters in Alamogordo and Otero County, with prior charges dating back to 2014. His past offenses include contributing to the delinquency of a minor, battery, forced entry, probation violation, attempted escape from jail, and now the new charges of murder and tampering with evidence.
