Two women were rescued while hiking Wheeler Peak, the highest mountain in New Mexico, on Friday night. According to the New Mexico Army National Guard, the two women, both in their 20s, became stranded on the mountain due to a lack of cold weather gear.

As temperatures dropped below freezing, a helicopter crew was dispatched to the area around 1:00 a.m. to assist with the rescue. Fortunately, the women did not sustain any injuries. Once rescued, they were transported to the Santa Fe Regional Airport, where they arranged their own transportation home.
