According to reports, the man from Greece who passed away at a prison near Utica last week was reportedly subjected to physical assault by corrections officers while handcuffed.
According to sources, the Albany Times-Union has confirmed the reporting previously mentioned by our very own Bob Lonsberry.
The Times-Union has confirmed the existence of body camera footage.
Last Tuesday, 43-year-old Robert Brooks from Greece tragically passed away at a hospital, as a result of an incident that occurred at Marcy Correctional Facility.
Brooks had been sentenced to 12 years in prison for committing first-degree assault. This offense occurred in 2016 when he stabbed his girlfriend.
Thirteen officers at the prison have been suspended without pay, and the state Attorney General’s Office is currently conducting an investigation.
