A home invasion in La Luz resulted in the death of a 45-year-old intruder after the homeowner defended his family. The incident occurred on December 14 at a residence on Appler Road, and New Mexico State Police are currently investigating the case.

According to authorities, Lucas Eli Moore forced his way into the home around 8:48 p.m., despite being warned multiple times by the 39-year-old homeowner to leave. Moore entered the kitchen, located near the children’s bedrooms. Fearing for the safety of his family, the homeowner fired a single shot, striking Moore.
