6 injured in Westchester crash on Hutchinson Parkway

According to authorities, several individuals sustained injuries in a collision caused by a driver traveling in the wrong direction on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Westchester County on Monday morning.

Feinstein and her family were transported to Westchester Medical Center after the accident. She sustained severe injuries to her lower extremities and internal injuries. The extent of her condition is currently unknown.

The injuries sustained by the five family members in the other vehicle, including a husband, wife, and three children aged 12, 17, and 25, were determined to be non-life-threatening.

The investigation led to the closure of the northbound side of the highway, but it was reopened later.

The authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. It is still unclear why the driver was traveling in the wrong direction at this time.

According to Westchester County Police Chief James Luciano, even though the crash happened during light rain and fog, there were sufficient signs in the vicinity, including on all exits and entrances to the Parkway, warning drivers with messages such as “do not enter, wrong way, turn around, go back.”

Westchester County Executive George Latimer mentioned a study that he commissioned regarding signage along the Bronx River Parkway. He also questioned whether there is a need for improvements along certain sections of the Hutchinson River Parkway.

“We will collaborate with the New York State Department of Transportation to conduct a comparable study and to propose similar recommendations for increased signage,” expressed Latimer.
