Pike County resident accused of aggravated home repair fraud

A man from Hannibal, Missouri, has been taken into custody and is facing charges of aggravated home repair fraud in Pike County.

On November 12, a victim approached Pike County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Zach Orr to report a case of home repair fraud. According to the victim, she had paid a significant sum of money to an individual for repairs on her house back in July 2024. However, none of the work had been carried out, and the contractor had yet to reimburse her for the payment.

Orr conducted a criminal investigation, resulting in the issuance and execution of court-authorized search warrants to obtain financial information.

Orr sought and obtained an arrest warrant for aggravated home repair fraud.

Gary L. Haynes, aged 47, was apprehended by the Hannibal Police Department on November 27th. He was arrested based on an arrest warrant issued in Pike County, Illinois. Following his arrest, Haynes was released and awaits his scheduled court appearance.
