The San Francisco 49ers bounced back nicely over the weekend, defeating the New England Patriots 30-13 to improve to 2-2 on the year.
Now, looking ahead to Week 5, the 49ers are looking to remain undefeated at home when they host the Arizona Cardinals at Levi’s Stadium, hoping to earn their first divisional win of the season.
Arizona has started the year 1-3, playing a tough Buffalo Bills team on the road in the opener before whooping the Los Angeles Rams 41-10 in Week 2. They’re coming off their roughest game yet, though, as the Cardinals just dropped a blowout 42-14 loss to the Washington Commanders at home in Week 4.
The 49ers have swept the series in each of the last two years, which is the goal once again in 2024 as they hope to get back over .500 in a divisional game.
So, how are the 49ers seen, odds-wise, against the Cardinals in Week 5?
San Francisco enters the week as 7.5-point favorites on the spread, with the over/under set at 50.5 points on FanDuel.
The 49ers have been major favorites in a number of games this year, and that pattern continues here against the Cardinals, with both teams coming off blowouts in Week 4.
Arizona allowed Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels to complete 86.7 percent of his passes, while Washington rushed for 216 yards and four touchdowns in their 42-14 win.
The Cardinals still had 181 rushing yards, thanks to a 100-yard game from James Conner, but only got 14 points on the day, as the passing game didn’t see much success after the opening drive.
Meanwhile, San Francisco flourished on the ground, with Jordan Mason going for 123 yards and a score, while Brock Purdy had an explosive-laden day, connecting with all three of his top receivers on deep passes en route to throwing for 288 yards on the day.
The 49ers seem to have a favorable matchup here in Week 5, but divisional matchups always provide fireworks, and quarterback Kyler Murray has given San Francisco problems in the past with his ability to run from the pocket.
This one could be more of a high-scoring game though, with the over/under set at 50.5 points, as both teams have the ability to connect on explosive plays with their skill position players.
