Kentucky Braces for Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Starting Thursday

Paducah, KY – A stretch of warm weather will be short-lived as a strong storm system brings heavy rain and thunderstorms beginning Thursday. The system could lead to localized flooding, with rainfall continuing into Friday and lingering showers over the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, rain will move in Thursday afternoon, with thunderstorms possible overnight into Friday morning. Some storms could bring heavy downpours, especially in southern Kentucky. Rain chances remain high through Friday before tapering off Saturday.

Five-Day Forecast for Paducah, KY:

Wednesday:Mostly sunny, high of 57°F.

Thursday:Rain in the afternoon, high of 57°F. Thunderstorms possible overnight.

Friday:Lingering rain, high of 62°F, with winds up to 20 mph.

Saturday:Partly sunny, high of 52°F, with calmer winds.

Sunday:Mostly sunny, high near 62°F.

Drivers should remain cautious on wet roads, particularly on Interstate 24and surrounding highways. The National Weather Service advises monitoring forecasts and preparing for changing conditions.
