TALLAHASSEE, FL – A cold front sweeping through Florida is set to bring frost and rain, leaving roads slick and temperatures unusually low. Residents should prepare for patchy frost Sunday night and widespread rain Monday, with temperatures dropping 15 degrees below January norms.

According to the National Weather Service, light showers are expected through Saturday, with skies clearing briefly by Sunday. Overnight temperatures will dip to 30 degrees, creating frost hazards for outdoor plants and vehicles. Drivers on I-10 and local roadways are advised to exercise caution as icy patches could form in low-lying areas.

Sunday’s forecast calls for sunny skies and highs near 56 degrees after morning frost. However, another round of rain will move in Monday, with a 90% chance of precipitation and temperatures peaking at only 49 degrees. Winds from the northeast will intensify, adding to the chill.

The week ahead offers some relief, with Tuesday bringing sunshine and slightly warmer highs of 55 degrees. However, nighttime lows will remain near freezing until midweek. Residents are urged to take precautions to protect plants, pets, and exposed pipes during the coldest nights.
