A memorial gathering in Chicago turned into a bloodbath after a deadly shooting overnight that lead to the death of a woman, and six others injured, according to police.
Chicago Memorial Gathering Turned Into Bloodbath
According to police, seven people are shot during the Chicago Memorial gathering and one of the seven was fatally dead after a large crowd assembled on the 4800 block of W. Iowa Street to visit a resting man in his grave who passed away in a car accident four years ago.
In that gathering a surveillance video captured the chaotic moment of the shooting incident just after 1 a.m. on Sunday. The shooting was triggered by a verbal argument and more than one person started firing around 1 in the morning, Chicago Police Department Deputy Chief Adnardo Gutierrez informed reporters in a video posted by CNN affiliate WLS.
Gutierrez said that “The group is out there celebrating, and something happened, and a verbal altercation occurred, and someone began shooting, or several people began shooting,”
It can be seen that several people are running away from the gunfire and taking shelter behind vehicles. The gunman was dressed in jeans and a white top and opened fire before running away toward Cicero Avenue.
One Woman Dead During The Deadly Shooting
A 25-year-old Terry’a Adams was fatally killed during the shooting that occurred at Chicago Memorial. Adams was the girlfriend of the resting man whom the group visited for his death anniversary.
when the police arrived on the scene they immediately transported Adams to Mt. Sinai Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to Gutierrez, the five victims said three men, ages 27, 28, and 29, and a 28-year-old woman were all transported to Stroger Hospital, while the other 17-year-old girl was taken to West Suburban Medical Center. However, All five victims are expected to recover.
Detectives with the Chicago Police Area 4 Division are still investigating, they even return to the scene on Sunday morning. Chicago Police said that as of the moment, no one is in custody.
“You couldn’t get down the block. You couldn’t park anywhere. They were in the alley. They had the alley blocked off, and I told them all this on the phone. This could have been avoided,” McCallum said.
