
GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, May 6, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Hit-and-run, May 6, Rose Creek Drive, GPD
A 63-year-old woman called the police at 9:40 a.m. to report a suspected hit-and-run involving her 2018 Toyota Tacoma, Gillette Police Sgt. Jay Johnson said. The woman said the incident happened between 10:30 p.m. May 5 and 6:30 a.m. May 6. Her vehicle sustained a broken taillight and bumper and had scratches with white paint transfer. The investigation is ongoing.
Crash, May 5, Saunders Boulevard, GPD
Officers cited an 18-year-old man for following too closely after he reportedly crashed his 2001 Ford Ranger into a 16-year-old boy in a 2011 Honda Pilot around 12:53 p.m. at Saunders Boulevard and West 4-J Road, Johnson said. The 16-year-old was stopped ahead of the 18-year-old. The 18-year-old told officers he believed the other vehicle would move forward and proceeded himself. The other vehicle remained stationary, and the crash resulted in over $1,000 in damage.
Crash, May 5, Rogers Drive, GPD
A 23-year-old woman was cited for a stop sign violation after allegedly crashing her Nissan Rogue into a 34-year-old woman’s Ford Escape while turning onto Skyline Drive from Rogers Drive around 1:22 p.m., Johnson said. The crash resulted in over $1,000 in damage and no injuries.
Crash, May 5, Highway 59, GPD
Officers responded to Highway 59 and Highway 14-16 for a report of a two-vehicle crash around 5:48 p.m., Johnson said. A 41-year-old woman was stopped at a red light in a 2012 Dodge Caravan with two child passengers. An 18-year-old man in a 2000 GMC Yukon failed to see the stopped Caravan and rear-ended it, resulting in less than $1,000 in damage. The 41-year-old woman complained of neck pain and was evaluated by emergency medical services. The 18-year-old was cited for improper lookout and failing to provide proof of insurance.
