GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Gillette City Council will consider spending items, event permits, novelty shop licensing requirements, and a proposed Trap-Neuter-Release ordinance for feral cats during their Tuesday night meeting.
The meeting is set for 6 p.m. on May 6 in the council chambers at City Hall, 201 E. 5th Street. It will be broadcast live on GPA-TV Channel 192, and a recording will be available the following day in the Channel 192 Archive. A full copy of the agenda is available on the city website.
During the meeting, Gillette Mayor Shay Lundvall is expected to make several proclamations designating May as Mental Health Awareness Month, National Historic Preservation Month, and Supervised Visitation Awareness Month. May 6-12 will also be designated as Nurses Week.
Gillette Police Chief Chuck Deaton will give a Trap-Neuter-Release presentation ahead of council consideration of an ordinance to establish a new section of the Gillette City Code providing a TNR program for certain cats in the city of Gillette.
Additionally, the council will consider an ordinance amendment that would eliminate annual licensing requirements for novelty shops, create an umbrella license for farmers’ market associations covering multiple vendors, and provide clarification for itinerant and mobile food vendors. The ordinance also includes broadening the exception to the special license in terms of political protests.
Special event permits for the annual 4th of July Parade, Donkey Creek Music Festival, ad Clean Rides Car Show will also go before the council for approval.
The council also intends to vote on several bid awards, the largest of which includes a new solid waste truck for $499,265 and the Fox Park Monitoring Building project for $411,120, among other items.
